thank you

Thanks to everyone that came out to see the screening of the film series. Fred Camper, in The Chicago Reader, wrote up a somewhat glowing review of my piece:

“The five segments vary in effectiveness, but Aaron Brown and Alan Ortiz’s is especially strong: handheld footage of a peanut vendor working auto traffic in winter captures the precariousness of street life, while the intercut remarks of a businessman explaining the economics of the trade give an expanded perspective worthy of Dziga Vertov.”

If you are in Chicago this weekend, remind yourself that version fest is wrapping up just as art chicago is starting up. Be where you need to get to.

A GOOD DAY TO ME
Mr. Aaron Brown and I made a short documentary about a south side peanut vendor in chicago. Our movie is going to be screened along with other shorts based around the theme of work in the city.
There will be more dates to follow, but these first three nights will be super extra special.  The first night will be a free screening with a wine reception, and the other two nights will feature a Q+A with the filmmakers after the movie.
