Directors Alan Del Rio Ortiz and Joel Anderson admit the biggest technical challenge shooting this video was “capturing quality shots in a tight space filled with drunk people. You’re supposed to fill the beer glasses with tea, or something, so no one gets wasted while you are working, but we didn’t do that.

“The band wanted to shoot in a cabin they built themselves. They wanted it to be a party in the cabin with their friends, as well as some ‘critters’ to be animated in post. Filtering that direction into something cohesive was our main concern.
“The location was challenging because we had to transform our friend’s backyard into a forest. We had to hide a lot of civilization to make it look like we were in the middle of nowhere. Also, the shed was incredibly tight. We had to remove side panels off the structure to shoot from other angles”

Over the last few months, Ben Poster and I have been furiously planning the release of our new project: thisartist.tv.

This will be an ongoing project in which Ben and I will profile contemporary artists in an effort to capture their creative process. Our first featured artist is white/light, an experimental art duo that we caught up with at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

The website is brand new, so any and all feedback is welcome. A huge thanks is owed Gretchen Schulfer for her role in building the site and helping us nail it together.

CocoRosie have been coming up in conversation a lot lately, and today I came across their new video directed by Emma Freeman. I have heard a lot of talk about how strange they are, but I don’t think that this is actually any weirder than people listening to things like Papa Roach or Miley Cyrus.
